Thornhill Elementary PFC Newsletter
Volume 25, Issue 1, September 1, 2017
Welcome Back!
There's a lot going on right now, what with getting all our kids to and from school, our kids having new classes and getting used to new teachers, and...The heat! On top of it all, it's supposed to be hotter than the surface of Venus around here over the next few days. So remember to drink lots of cold beverages and keep everyone cool.
Whether you are a Thornhill veteran, or new to the school, and the community, this weekly newsletter will help serve as a source of information for what is going on around your school. And it is your school. Help in the classroom, if you can. Drive on a field trip. Join Dads Club. Come to the PFC meetings. If you see some trash outside the school, pick it up. Even the smallest bit of involvement matters. And whatever you do, it will matter, and it will help make Thornhill a better place.
Like the song says, "Welcome back my friends, to the show that never ends." And with that, on with the show...

Principal's Note...
Dear Thornhill Families,
It was great to see you all on Wednesday at Back To School Night.
We had a packed house, brimming out the auditorium and into the foyer. I have to say how excited I am about seeing all of our new and returning families. Thank you more making Thornhill such a great and beautiful community.
I want to give a special thanks to all who worked on the mural. It really adds a lot of color to our school and the play area. Between the mural and our new paint job our school is looking good!
To see some of the information shared at Back-To-School Night, please see the Back to School Night packet. As always, this information and more can be found on the Thornhill website.
Sincerely,
Mr. Daubenspeck
As you can see, our mural team did a spectacular job
Back To School Donation Drive
And, that's where you come in.
The annual Thornhill Back To School Donation Drive is underway and runs until September 30. The suggested donation this year is $950 per student. This is a big commitment for just about everyone, and as such, donations of any size are welcome. Whatever you can give, it will be a great help toward keeping all of Thornhill's outstanding programs running through the year.
You can make a donation online via PayPal or go to the Thornhill website and download the donation form.
Thank you for all your help,
Christine Volden Pereira, VP of Fundraising
Rianna Stoll & Adrienne Selke, Co-Chairs, Thornhill Back-To-School Drive
Dads Club
Our first monthly social/meeting will be held at Monaghan’s at 2820 Mountain Blvd. on Thursday, September 7 at 7 pm. Our first volunteer opportunity will be helping out at a school Movie Night, which we are in the process of scheduling. We are shooting for the second week in October. More details coming soon!
Dads Club’s impact on Thornhill will be limited only by the energy and enthusiasm of members like you. Each of us leads a busy life. We welcome whatever time and commitment you can give – there are small, medium and large ways to get involved.
Look for the very latest information on our events and activities in the weekly school newsletter or in the Dads Club Facebook group.
Thanks again and welcome aboard!
