Clarks Creek students have PRIDE!

Ensuring that ALL students carry themselves with pride and confidence beyond our doors as honorable, skillful learners and thinkers, ready to enrich our world.

SCHOOL GOALS - What will you do BEFORE MAY to get our students there?

  • 40% of all students who take the ISTEP assessment will earn the maximum number of points of each problem solving question. This is an increase of 2.9% over last year’s scores.

  • 80% of all students who take the ISTEP assessment will earn a score of 4, 5, or 6 on the Writing Applications six-point rubric. This is an increase of 3.6% over last year’s scores.
  • Current fourth grade students will increase scores by at least 3% in the subcategory of Algebra & Functions, scoring 88% or higher.

Dear Staff,

What a great week! We have completed the first round of ISTEP and are almost done with the IREAD-3 assessments, we have had a chance to celebrate several births into our Clarks Creek family, and we have gotten to see our students having fun as "kids" at the Spring Carnival. Now this week we will get to have some special visitors from our administrative team visit and see all of the hard work you and our students have been putting in and see some of the things that make our school great! Enjoy this opportunity to show off our awesome kids!

Have a super week!

To-Do List

  • Please remember to turn in a list of obsolete equipment from your room/area to Vicki no later than Wednesday.
  • As we discussed again this week, please make sure you are documenting your Domain 1 and 3 evidence on the Domains 1, 2, 3 Documentation form in the Staff Handbook. Remember, too, that Domain 2 is generally observed in an in-class observation, so you don't have to worry as much about that one. The deadline for completing these items and uploading them into Pivot will be April 15th. Remember, too, the week we get back from spring break we will have some time to work together to make sure everyone knows how to upload the documents, or you can use the directions in the handbook to help you prior to that.
  • In preparation for the March 23rd PD day, please plan to meet this Thursday at our regular staff meeting time (or another time of your team's choosing during the week) to make a list of grade level standards you feel your students struggle with when they come to you at the beginning of the year or precursor skills they are weak in that you believe could receive more emphasis in the previous grade. In short, what do you wish your students came to you already knowing that they seem to struggle with overall? One thing we will be doing on the 23rd is meeting with grade levels below and above your own to work on the vertical articulation of our students' skills and help fill the gaps that we see with our incoming students.
  • Also in preparation for our March 23rd day, please be sure your grade level has identified all of the information that you want to have included on the placement cards that you receive from the grade level below you.

  • Our admin team visitors will be here on Friday, March 20th from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. The building tour and classroom observations will take place from approximately 9:f15 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. They will be informed of our work on Marcy Cook strategies, engagement strategies, and conversations about reading and using evidence to support ideas and will be interested to see those things happening in the building.
  • Tuesday, March 24th, all general eduction IAs will be out of the classrooms for the day to complete a task for our building - grading the K CogAT tests. If you normally have an IA in your room at any point during the day on Tuesday, please plan for them to not be there that day. If the task is not completed, it is possible it will extend into the day on Wednesday, but I am hopeful it will all be done at the end of the day on Tuesday.
  • Before we had changed the date of our admin team visit to March 20th, I had already agreed to use that day as a Relay for Life fundraising jeans day for staff. We will keep this date as planned! For a $5 donation you may wear Jeans on Friday. Turn this in to Randa if you want to participate. Since it is a Friday, though, please still plan to wear your Plainfield/Clarks Creek/PRIDE colors!
  • Be aware that the statewide tornado drill will be this Thursday at 10:15. Talk your students through the safety measures for this type of situation and be prepared to execute the drill quickly.
  • Marisa will be out of the building Wednesday morning for the monthly administrative cabinet meeting.
