WELCOME LISA BURLESON LEWISVILLE ES ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
Hello all! I am overjoyed to make Lewisville Elementary a permanent home this year as one of your assistant principals. This past year I was able to serve as the 3-5 Central Zone Language Arts and Social Studies Learning Facilitator, but only seeing you every three weeks was not enough. I cannot wait to continue to work with you and support you in this new role. Thank you for being such a hard working, wonderful and inviting staff this past year.
A little bit about me (if you haven’t met me yet), I have been an educator for 10 years. The first seven years were spent teaching Language Arts in Garland ISD (Ironically, I did my student teaching in math and science). In those 7 years, I was was able to teach a wide variety of classes to all grade levels. Some of these classes were...7th grade AVID elective course, 8th grade Speech, 6-8th grade English and 6-8th grade ESL (newcomer to advanced levels). I also served as PTA Vice President, conducted parent education classes, and was a department chair. Three years ago I moved to Lewisville ISD where I decided to switch levels and learn about the elementary world (there are a lot of differences). I taught 5th grade for two years and then moved to my role as a learning facilitator. It has been a fun ten years and looking forward to the next decade. More specifically, I am grateful to be apart of the Lewisville family and participate in all the daily school functions.
I am a graduate of University of North Texas where I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree (4-8th Generalist/ESL) and returned later in 2013 for Masters in Administration.
I have held the title of educator for a decade and wife for three years. I married my husband, Marqus, in 2014. He is a band director at John Horn High School in Mesquite ISD and if you know anything about Texas band directors, I only see him during the summer (kidding, but seriously his schedule is so jam packed). As of March, I am a mom (this is probably my favorite title ever). Our son, Benjamin, was born on March 4th and he is the sweetest little guy. I grew up in Minnesota and am the oldest of three sisters (it is as crazy as it sounds). Other than this, I enjoy travelling (we love the cruise life), watching sports, spending time with friends, trying new food and attempting to be crafty.
I look forward to seeing you each and every day. Thank you for allowing me to serve the staff in this new capacity. Enjoy the remaining days of your summer and see you soon.
