#WE Explore
Week of Sept. 13 - Sept. 17, 2021
Updates for the Week
Hello Wilkesboro families!
We hope that you’ve enjoyed this beautiful weekend. We are calling tonight with some updates for the week of September 13-17. You can find full details buy clicking on your child’s teachers picture below.
We are excited to welcome the Bedford Falls Book Fair back to our media center this week. The book fair will be open Monday - Friday from 8:30 - 3:30 this week. Students can choose from an affordable, high quality assortment of books for every reader’s interest and enjoyment. All money earned from the book fair goes directly to buy new books and resources for our school library. We will host two family nights -- on Tuesday and Thursday from 4-7 -- where you can visit the book fair together. We will accept cash, debit, and credit cards at the book fair. If parents would like to come during the day, please message your child’s teacher to make an appointment for a convenient time. As a reminder, all visitors to the inside of the building and book fair must wear masks as required by WCS policy.
As a reminder, our Wilkesboro PTO has school shirts, sweatshirts, masks, and hats available for sale for a limited time at an online store. You can visit the site directly -- https://theraggcompany-printavo-com.printavo.com/merch/wilkesboro2021/?fbclid=IwAR3pjYOAHNhGSt1d6EicTCfJkLy97HlOz7yjojldJMtbaKbSxmumui0uZcQ -- to place your order through September 24. All transactions can be done online, and your merchandise will be delivered directly to school. If you want to place a cash order, please contact Mrs. Spears directly. These popular items are great for our monthly spirit days. As a reminder, proceeds of PTO sales come back to directly support your child at school.
We are fortunate to have the support of our PTO and many community members and organizations who have made our new playground and outdoor learning space possible. We are in the final stage this week, and we look forward to celebrating with the opening of these spaces soon.
Thank you to everyone for continuing to follow layered protocols to keep everyone safe from Covid-19. We continue to wear masks at all times indoors, and we encourage you to keep sick children at home. Please contact our school nurse for guidance if your child displays symptoms. And if a COVID-19 exposure or symptoms require your child to stay home from school, please contact your teacher for remote learning options and contact Mrs. Martin, Mrs. Byers, or Mrs. Spears if you need to check out a chromebook for your child to learn at home during this time.
Thank you for your support these past several weeks. Our year is off to a great start, and we are grateful for your help and encouragement. Have a good evening!

About Attendance
School starts at 7:50 each day. Students who are participating will be marked PRESENT or ABSENT. If your child is not in school, you will need to send in absence notes the next day and it will be coded as excused or unexcused. If your child is officially quarantined or excluded by the health department and/or the school nurse, your teacher will offer remote learning. While on quarantine, your child should submit work daily and communicate with the teacher DAIL. If this happens, the student can be marked "PRESENT OFF SITE-1R". Thanks in advance for your help!
