Please see the message that was shared by Mr Anderson and Mrs O'Callaghan
Kia Ora, I’m Michael Anderson from Te Awhina Waru and I’m Davinia O’Callaghan from Te Awhina Ono. We have had the pleasure of teaching the Year 6 tamariki this year. Throughout the year we have been sooooo proud of how our Year 6s have used their Mercy Values and particularly, in reference to todays reading, have shown the Mercy Value of compassion towards others.
The Mercy Value of Compassion means Aroha, caring for our family and friends, and about showing kindness to people who are feeling sad or upset to help them feel good. The Mercy Value of Compassion is about feeling that you can make a difference.
Our Year 6 students said that they show compassion:
When they are good listeners
When they look for ways to help other people in my community
When they stick up for someone who is being teased
When they look for children at school who are being left out and invite them to join in games
When they forgive someone who has hurt them
When they share their toys and games
God of tender mercy, may your love reach out to our Year 6’s and fill their hearts with love, joy and hope for the future. Help them work together to change our world and to make it better, even in small ways. May we never doubt that our love can make a difference.
