ICCS Mission Statement:
PRINCIPAL'S CORNER
Next week is National Catholic Schools Week, which is an annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States. The national celebration of Catholic schools formally began in 1974. Because we live in the great state of Louisiana, our history of Catholic education and it’s prominence in our regional area are something to be noted and remembered this time of year. During the French colonial era of the early 1700s, the Order of the Capuchins began to educate pupils in Louisiana, which unfortunately had many setbacks attributed to funding and facilities. Formal education was not established until the Society of Jesus, the Jesuits, sought the help of the Ursuline nuns to begin the first formal Catholic school in Louisiana. The Ursulines took on the task and in 1727, they began educating students in a colonial Catholic school that still exists today. Our history and roots are strong in Catholic education. The theme this year for Catholic Schools Week is "Catholic Schools: Faith. Excellence. Service.”
In the upcoming school week, we are looking forward to celebrating all the wonderful aspects of Catholic education at ICCS including our students, families, ICCS community, faculty, staff, pastor, and support staff members. The value of Catholic education will show in surprising ways years from now. We have a beautiful community that I am proud to be a part of and I thank you for all that you do to make our Catholic school community strong, vibrant, and faith-filled.
Yours in Catholic education,
Blair Moses Tadlock
ICCS Interim Principal

VIRTUE OF THE MONTH: INDUSTRIOUSNESS
This week, our PK-8th Grade students continue to practice the virtue of industriousness.
Industriousness looks like trying your best to participate. The best work of God that we can participate in is worship at Mass. Do I care about giving my best to God at Mass? Do I work well to give Him glory through my responses and singing?
Dear Jesus, I know that You are pleased when we worship You as You have asked. But sometimes I don’t want to sing, or Mass feels long and I forget to pay attention. Help me to practice industriousness and perform this great work of worship with all my heart. Jesus, open my eyes to see the wonder that every Mass contains, and open my heart to desire to give You my very self. Amen.
BISHOP'S SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
THANK YOU DONORS
The Atrium, located near the ICCS Cafeteria, and The Atrium II, located on the 3rd Floor, are places where students visit weekly to pray, develop a deeper relationship with God, and learn about the Bible and liturgy through hands-on activities. This beneficial and inspirational faith-based program continues to grow and expand thanks to generous donors and advocates within our school community.
Several ICCS families and supporters have recently donated funds or needed equipment to help make the Atrium project a success. Many thanks to the following donors: Mary & Gary Bernard, Christy & Chris Jones, and Cathy & Father Brian King for their generosity and recent contributions to the program.
