This story of a man’s marriage to a sweet country girl and his infatuation with a woman of the city was one of the last silent films—and one of the greatest films of all time. Under the able direction of German F. W. Murnau, Sunrise received the first Academy Award for Unique and Artistic Picture. Cinematographers Karl Struss and Charles Rosher and actress Janet Gaynor also won Academy Awards. This is an unforgettable cinema experience that is enhanced by the live organ accompaniment.
