Irondale principal update

Dear Irondale High School Community:
As you’ve read in her recent email message, Amy Janecek has stepped down as principal of Irondale to provide more attention to her family during these challenging times. I know this was not an easy decision for her. Amy cared deeply for the Irondale school community, and I’m proud of the work she has accomplished in leading your school the past four years. Thanks to her leadership, Irondale is well-positioned to continue its growth, and I expect this important work will continue.
The search for Amy’s replacement will begin immediately and will remain open until the right candidate is found. Given the current social-distancing requirements, the search can not resemble a traditional process. Instead, we will have to develop a search process that involves a remote committee of parents, staff members and Building Instructional Leadership Team members. Despite this atypical approach, I’m confident we will find the best person suited to lead Irondale. My goal is to identify a new principal for Irondale this spring who would be able to start on or about July 1 – ready to begin the 2020-21 school year.
If you have any questions, comments or insights you’d like to share as we develop this process, please feel free to contact me (651-621-6001, christopher.lennox@moundsviewschools.org) or John Ward, Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources and Operations (651-621-6005, john.ward@moundsviewschools.org).
In the meantime, please be assured that Irondale will receive ongoing attention and support from the District for however long is necessary as the school begins to deliver distance learning to its students. I have asked Jeff Ridlehoover, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction, to work with Irondale’s assistant principals, deans, teachers and staff who remain well-positioned to support our student’s learning for the remainder of this year. If you have any additional questions about distance learning, please feel free to contact Jeff (651-621-6015, jeff.ridlehoover@moundsviewschools.org) or Gretchen Zahn, Director of Curriculum and Instruction (651-621-6040, gretchen.zahn@moundsviewschools.org).
Despite the times and unexpected events, I look forward to making sure that this school year continues in a positive and productive manner for all Irondale students and families.
Sincerely,
Chris Lennox
Superintendent
