March, 2021

Big picture
Women's History Month is an annual celebration honoring the contributions of women to American history, culture, and society. Women's History Month is observed annually during March to coincide with International Women's Day on March 8. Women's History Month grew out of a Women's History Week celebrated in Sonoma, California, in 1978. Be sure to encourage your student to read some books about women (HERstory) who have influenced America.

WHEW!!!!!

Well, we did it! We brought back a majority of our Hybrid students for four days. It's been great having them back and they are happy to be back. I would venture to say, you are as well. On Friday, you received a survey asking your preference for five days or Remote attendance. Cyber parents received a survey from Dr. Eberly, Cyber Administrator. The deadline is March 4th. Be sure to fill it out if you have not done so.

FROM THE NURSE'S OFFICE

Dental forms for third grade students need to be submitted for this school year. The exam can be from 8/2019 to present. Physical and dental forms for first grade students should be submitted if they were not submitted last year.

If in doubt about the status of your child's documentation, please call Mrs. Stavely at 484-266-1406 or email PStavely@wcasd.net.

Please remember to notify the teacher and the school nurse if your child has a positive Covid test or has a direct exposure to a person testing positive for Covid, even if it occurs during remote learning. You can email Mrs. Stavely. We greatly appreciate everyone in our community following the safety protocols and keeping each other safe during this time.

WEARING OF MASKS

Generally, students are doing a great job wearing their masks. Occasionally, students have to be reminded to pull their mask up over their nose. Most times, this is because the mask is too big. Please make sure your student is wearing a mask that fits or a child size mask. Thanks for your attention and cooperation in this very important safety matter.

SUMMER LEARNING

IN CASE YOU MISSED THE EMAIL FROM DR. MISSETT

Dear Elementary Families,

PARENT DROP OFF AND PICK UP

For those parents dropping off and picking students up, I'm sure you've see the increase in cars as I indicated would happen when students returned to attend four days. We are certain to see even more cars when school returns to five days.

Again, I would ask that parents be patient. Not only for the safety of the children and staff but yourselves as well. Please:

  • Do not pull out of the line after your student as exited the car (drop off) or entered the car (pick up). Cars ahead of you in the line may not see you. Staff is moving cars out as quickly as possible.
  • When arriving for pick up, please utilize the cul-de-sac. As cars exit the cul-de-sac, cars should pull in the cul-de-sac, not enter the parking lot.
  • When exiting the playground, make the right at the first One Way sign.

SHOUT OUT - EXPRESS YOUR APPRECIATION

Don't wait until Teacher Appreciation Week to let your child's teacher or staff know they're appreciated. Teachers and staff have had a lot to deal with and a lot on their plates. In spite of this year's challenges, they continue to persevere with Patience, Flexibility and Grace. If you'd like, complete the short survey for your child's teacher or any staff member and it will be shared with them.
