Pratt's Primary Corner
Weekly Update- October 26, 2018
I apologize in advance that this is so lengthy- we have a lot of awesome events coming up that you'll want to know about. :)
Week at a Glance
Reading- On Monday & Tuesday we looked at different test question types so we wouldn't be surprised when seeing them on the OST. Thursday & Friday we had testing.
Math- We looked at various multiplication strategies and discussed how we can use known facts to help us solve unknown facts. (For example, we can use 10x9 to help us solve 5x9 because 5 is half of 10, so the product of 5x9 is half of the product of 10x9). We spent Friday solving different types of multiplication story problems.
Science/Social Studies/Computer Science- We started E4Tech this week! See blurb about it below!
Writing- We finished bend 1 of our opinion writing unit and have been rehearsing for our Friday writing celebration.
E4Tech
- The math focus of this first module is Operations & Algebraic thinking with some geometry tied in.
- The computer science focus of the first module is algorithms, using precise language, writing if/then statements, and finally programming using Scratch.
- This module also ties into social studies through maps.
