march 2021
March GLADness! Smiling through the month. :)
a message from our superintendent
Dear District 25 Families,
As we approach Spring Break, I want to review some guidelines that will ensure our schools remain safe for students and staff. It is important we continue to work together to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in our community.
Please read through this special edition of the District Dish carefully and thoroughly. There is no doubt in my mind that as we continue to work together we will finish this school year strong and take that momentum into the summer.
Please check out the "what you'll find, as you scroll..." section to better understand what is in this Dish.
Thank you!
Lori Bein, Ed.D.
Superintendent

idph & cdc
Please review the updated guidelines for both domestic and international travel.
Please click here for current guidelines for international travel.
Please click here for current guidelines for domestic travel.
Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH) guidance is consistent with the City of Chicago’s Travel Order to reduce confusion among people living and working in Cook County. As always, if you or your child are exhibiting any of the COVID-19 symptoms, or have been exposed to a positive case or a suspected case while traveling, do not come to school/send your child to school and contact your school’s nurse.
Please note, District 25 will not be monitoring the travel of our students and our staff over Spring Break. We simply ask that families follow the guidelines listed above and linked above. Travel guidelines are updated regularly, and it is important that you check the above links prior to your travel.
isolation & quarantine letter
Please review the nurses' letter (click here) that was updated on March 5, 2021 with isolation guidance. I realize this letter is long, but it has a lot of helpful and clear guidance about isolation and quarantine situations, so I ask that you take your time when reviewing it. Always remember that if you do have any questions or need anything clarified in regards to isolation and/or quarantine, you are welcome to reach out to our amazing nursing team via your school’s nurse.
Please note the new ISBE/IDPH guidance still requires quarantining for close contacts to a confirmed case when they are within 6 feet for a cumulative period of 15 minutes over 24 hours and not fully vaccinated.
new in-person and remote numbers
The Step 4 Switch forms are now closed and our district-wide in-person and remote numbers beginning the week of Monday, March 29, are as follows:
In-Person: 4,480 (85%)
Remote: 796 (15%)
You will receive (this week) or may have already received individual classroom numbers (elementary) or grade team numbers (middle school) via your principal or classroom teacher.
We are currently reviewing the classroom data, as well as the details from the new state guidance, and will communicate any adjustments to our Transitional Model of Reopening | Step 4, as appropriate.
election day in our schools
Six of our elementary schools (all but Olive-Mary Stitt) and the Dunton Administration Center will be used as polling places for election day, Tuesday April 6, 2021. School will be in session that day. We have a plan in place that keeps voters in the polling areas with no other access to the buildings. In most cases this means that we will not utilize our gymnasium for student instruction, and recess will be held indoors. We have hired building attendants who will open the doors to voters and supervise the voters to ensure they do not leave the voting areas. Your school principal will provide any additional information as it relates to their specific building.

"Today is my first day back teaching in the classroom. Being remote for two months, while my students were in the classroom was the most difficult obstacle I’ve had to encounter as a T. When a student showed up with flowers my morning was made! I’m so thankful! @WindsorWildcats #d25ItsPersonal"

survey open until april 2
It’s that time of year again and we want your input! Please participate in the Illinois 5Essentials Parent Survey, as a part of the Illinois 5Essentials Survey administration. The survey responses will never be connected to the identity of you or your child as school reports will only present aggregated information of how parents responded as a whole.
In order for the survey report to be generated we need at least 20 percent of our parents to take the survey.
Please CLICK HERE to take the parent survey. The 5Essentials survey is open through April 2.
If you have any questions about the survey, please contact 5Essentials Customer Support at 1-866-440-1874 or 5essentials@uchicago.edu.
