La Mesa Update
September 5, 2021
Hello La Mesa Families,
This week we have no school on Monday in honor of Labor Day. Also, you will be able to access your child's quarter 1 progress report on the following Monday, September 13th by logging into the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. We encourage you to check the portal often to see where your child is academically.

Covid-19 has definitely impacted our mental health at one point or another. Join us with Roma Khetarpal as she will discuss the importance behind mindful parenting and the Pandemic Parenting Essentials. Roma will give great ways to support your child in tough situations, teach coping strategies for students feeling anxious, and your own mental well-being. Feel free to bring your questions!

It was truly one of the most unique and amazing experiences for our students.

HOWL Point Reward Donations Needed
You can check out our HOWL Matrix HERE.
If you can support our program please consider choosing items off of our Amazon Wish List. We also need gift cards in smaller denominations to local places such as Star Bucks, McDonalds, Menchies, Chipotle, etc. If you have larger items, we love those too as we raffle them off.
We thank you so much for your ongoing support of La Mesa!
Personal Device Policy Reminder
We can't even begin to tell you how wonderful it is to see students interacting at brunch and lunch rather than having their heads in a phone. Students are more focused in class without have to be distracted with a buzzing phone in their pockets.
We also understand that there are times when you need to connect with your child. They can come to the office to use the phone or ask a teacher to use the classroom phone. If you need to reach your child, please call the school and we will get a message out to them for you.
Your support is appreciated. Since implementing this policy, our negative issues associated with phones, including bullying and conflicts, have decreased dramatically.
Check our www.awayfortheday.org for some interesting research on students and phone use.
