Message From The Principal

Hello Eagle families,

I attended a workshop this week hosted by Dr. Vincent Pompei. The topic was how to support students in our LGBTQ community. It was informative and thought provoking. He shared some disturbing statistics from California LGBTQ students:

  • only 21% of are out to their parents
  • 29% are taunted or mocked by family members
  • only 32% say they can be themselves at school
  • only 5% are open about their orientation to all of their teachers
  • 78% report they have felt depressed in the past week
  • only 32% always feel safe in the classroom

Rancho Vista takes great pride in being inclusive and appreciative of ALL students. We strive to create a culture where every student feels welcomed and valued. I encourage all interested students in joining the Pride Club which began this year.

Think different. Be different.

Classroom Disruptions

Rancho Vista has been working hard to reduce student distractions in classrooms. We are enforcing our district's cell phone policy, that cell phones may only be used for instructional purposes and at the discretion of the teacher.

Students are put in a difficult situation when they receive a phone call from a parent during class time. This is not only a distraction for the student, built a disruption to the classroom. We respect the need for parents to communicate with their students, but please do not call during class times.
