Celebrating National Student Employment Week
Student employment plays an important role in the collegiate experience for students across the nation. Each year in recognition of the career enhancing opportunities presented through part-time employment, the National Student Employment Association designates the second week of April as National Student Employment Week. The Auburn University Career Center will join in this celebration April 11-15, 2016. Student employment promotes skill enhancement, building transferable skills relevant in any career. The skills attained through student employment assist in developing Auburn students into more experienced candidates upon entering the job market. In addition to the personal benefits from student employment, Auburn students play a vital role in the University’s daily, routine operations. Roughly 5,000 students are employed part-time as a university employees, and among this large group of students, many serve in more than one on-campus role. Your first interaction in many on-campus facilities such as the Recreation and Wellness Center, Tiger Dining venues, or the RBD Library may very well be with a student employee. Student employees’ contribution of invaluable services to our campus and community should be commended, and through National Student Employment Week our campus community can come together to celebrate their dedication and enthusiasm. The Auburn University Creed states, “I believe in work, hard work.” It is evident that Auburn students live up to this standard; not only do students believe in hard work, but they are able to find it at Auburn.
