SUMMER SCHOOL - Thank You for Your Patience
We thank you for your continued patience and understanding as District 30 works with our vendor to resolve registration issues for Summer School 2023. Registration remains on pause until we can assure that the process is working correctly.
Picking a summer program for your students is important and we share your concern and frustration, which is why we are communicating daily with our vendor to correct these issues. Please be assured that when registration resumes, we will work to make sure that in-district students can be enrolled in their preferred classes.
We will alert parents here in the Maple Marquee as soon as registration resumes. Should you have additional questions, please email summerschool@district30.org. Thank you!

Illinois 5Essentials Survey Runs Through March 31
Students and teachers across Illinois have an opportunity to participate in the 11th annual statewide Illinois 5Essentials Survey through March 31. This survey is designed to generate a detailed picture of the inner workings of your child’s school. As a parent, this opportunity will allow you to share your thoughts on the important elements of school effectiveness in a survey about your child’s school.
On behalf of the Illinois State Board of Education, the Illinois 5Essentials Survey will be administered online by UChicago Impact at the University of Chicago. The survey gathers data related to five indicators that can predict important student outcomes, including improved attendance and larger test score gains. These five indicators that affect and predict school success are:
Effective Leaders
Collaborative Teachers
Involved Families
Supportive Environments
Ambitious Instruction
Your participation in the parent portion of the survey will help us understand the conditions at your child’s school and guide improvement. Your identity and survey responses will be kept completely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child.
The Illinois 5Essentials Survey for students and teachers runs through March 31. The Parent Survey Supplement will be conducted during that same timeframe. To take the survey, click here or the button below and select the appropriate survey to begin.
For more information about the Illinois 5Essentials Survey, or to view previous years’ Reports, please click here. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact UChicago Impact Client Services at 1-866-440-1874 or impact-surveys@uchicago.edu.
Sincerely,
Mr. Sam Kurtz & Ms. Betty Holzkopf
Volunteers Needed for Career Day
We are still looking for volunteers for Career Day on April 28! Please complete this Google form if you are interested in volunteering.
The aim of the Maple’s Career Day event is to improve our eighth graders’ interview skills and broaden their career perspectives. We are looking for volunteers who can either interview our students in the morning or present about their careers in the afternoon. Interviewers in the morning will be expected to kindly and professionally lead students through a series of 20 minute mock interviews. For many of our students, this will be their first experience interviewing. We are also looking for enthusiastic and dynamic presenters for our afternoon sessions.
Volunteers should plan to present for 20 minutes to a few small groups of students. If you have any questions, please reach out to 8th grade ELA teacher Emily Foster.
From Quest Cafe
February Lunches
Monday, February 27, we are offering fresh strawberries and cream a la carte for $2.50.

When to Keep Your Student Home Sick
Parents,
Please keep your child home when they are not feeling well. They should not return to school until they have been fever-free for 24 hours (without use of fever-reducing medication) and/or free of vomiting/diarrhea for 24 hours.
For any of the below symptoms, please arrange COVID-19 testing prior to your child's return to school. Per IDPH guidelines, testing should be done within 48 hours of symptom development. At this time, rapid antigen testing is accepted, including home testing, as long as your child has not had any recent close contact with a person known to have COVID-19. If recent close contact has occurred, please contact the health office to discuss testing options.
COVID-19 like symptoms include:
- Fever above 100.4
- New cough/congestion
- Sore Throat
- Muscle/Body Aches
- Headache
- New loss of taste or smell
- Unexplained fatigue
- Vomiting/Diarrhea
Please call or email the health office if your student tests positive for COVID-19.
Thank you!

The health office number is 847-400-8908, email kweissler@district30.org. Voicemail is available outside of school hours to receive notices of absent students. Parents calling to report an absence due to illness should call or email the health office prior to the start of school on that day.
For safety, students are not permitted to leave the building unescorted without being signed out by their guardian. It is also helpful for parents to arrange medical and dental appointments before or after school hours.
SHIELD tests must be turned in before 9:30 a.m. on Tuesdays.
