Trunk or Treat - October 29, 2021
On Friday, October 29 Chatfield will host our Spooktacular Halloween Walk! The walk will take students on a socially distanced costume parade through a series of Halloween scenes/vignettes and decorated trunks.
We need your help! We need parents/families to decorate a Halloween scene/vignette or a trunk along the walking path. Students will walk passed the scene/vignette and enjoy what you have set up! The decorations can be as creative or as simple as you like and should be appropriate for all ages. As students pass the scene/vignette you will pass out candy or an item that will be provided for you.
Friday, October 29 is a half day of school, so the walk will be early in the day. Decorators should plan to set up between 9am and 9:30am with the first classes coming through around 9:30am! This activity is weather dependent and if cancellation is necessary because of weather we will notify families by 8:30am.
Again, we need you! If you would like to decorate a scene/vignette or trunk, please sign up by Friday, October 22. You will be assigned a spot along the walking path for your scene or you will be assigned a parking space for your trunk...depending on what you ask for. Electricity is not available.
Additionally, from each child by Friday, October 22 we need a bag of wrapped candy with about 50 pieces. We need this in advance so Miss Jodi and the PIE volunteers can get everything organized! A drop off tub for candy will be located where the students come in each morning. Thank you!

Reminder for all families:

Veteran's Day
Covid Mitigation Strategies
Several Covid-19 mitigation strategies that we know were successful last year will remain.
Temperature scanning upon entrance to the school.
Frequent handwashing.
Cohorting of students.
Lunch in the classrooms.
Social distancing as much as possible.
Parents entering the classrooms will be limited. Parents can enter the main office only.
There are several things we request Chatfield families do so that we can accomplish our goals:
Parents need to screen children for any sign of Covid-19 and if the child has any symptoms do not send the student to school.
Fever or chills
Cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
Fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache
New loss of taste or smell
New sore throat, congestion or runny nose
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
If someone in the household is showing symptoms of Covid-19 keep everyone home until a test or doctor can confirm that it is safe to return to school.
Masks are strongly encouraged but not required. At this time the Lapeer County Health Department strongly recommends that masks be worn inside by all people, regardless of vaccination status. All staff will be wearing masks to start the year. (No student will be treated differently whether wearing a mask or not).
If someone in the household tests positive for Covid-19, everyone living in that household is required to quarantine.
Bike Club Update
Please remember, each student participating must sign up here: SIGN UP LINK
This is a one time sign up and will help with weekly check-in.
Bike club will now happen from 3:45-4:45. The week of October 13, Bike Club will be moved to Thursday, October 14.
Students 2nd grade and under must have a parent ride with them. In the event of light rain, most of us will still choose to ride asphalt and crushed limestone paths. In the event of heavy rain or Thunderstorms, bike club will be canceled and notifications will be sent by email. Please contact Peter McCreedy with questions. pmccreedy@chatfieldschool.org
Hot Lunch Update
Menu Change: Wednesday, October 13 will be Pancake bites (not full size pancakes or waffles)
