Principal's Message
Hello Falcon Families!
I hope you are all safe and well. It's been a long week of extreme weather, and I we can't wait to get back to school. Our maintenance team has been working incredibly hard to get us back to school. In addition to having campuses ready to greet our students, we must also make sure that the surrounding roads are safe for our busses and families to use. We are continuing to work with local agencies and community members so we can return to school as soon as possible.
Due to the extended school closures, we are in the process of rescheduling some activities and events from the past week and into next week. As you may have seen in the message I sent out on Thursday, we are rescheduling our Read-a-Thon and Pajama day to Friday, March 10th. This is a very exciting event at our school and we will be sure to remind students and families of details throughout the next week.
With the school closure days landing at the end of our grading period, we may need to push back when we send report cards home. When we return next week, we will be evaluating whether or not all of our staff is prepared to send these home. We will make sure to keep you all in the loop on our progress on this front.
I look forward to seeing you all when we return to school soon. Until then, stay safe and warm. Have a great weekend.
Heather Minton
Principal
Information and Updates:
- TK/Kindergarten Enrollment 2023/2024 - TK/Kindergarten Enrollment for next year is open. Enrollment packets are available in the Pinewood Office, District Office, and on our website. Returning these packets as soon as possible helps us to make sure we have accurate staffing to support your child. Students currently enrolled at Pinewood TK-4th Grade do not need to re-enroll.
- PTC - PTC is a group of families and staff members responsible for planning events and fundraisers for our schools. If you are interested in joining our PTC, you can reach out to Heather Minton, or attend the next meeting on March 7th at 2:45 in Room 2.
- Pokemon Cards and Other Toys - Remember that students need to keep their toys, including Pokemon cards, at home. Students should not be bringing them to school.
- Lucky Grams - PTC will be selling "Lucky Grams" for students the week of March 13th. If you are able to assist, please use the button below to sign up for a time slot. Thanks!
Second Step Monthly Focus:
This month, our schoolwide theme is empathy. In our morning announcements and school assembly we'll be reminding students to have empathy, identify their own and others' feelings, notice and respect same and different feelings, and show compassion. When students can identify, understand, and respond in a caring way to how someone else is feeling, it helps create a positive and accepting school climate.
Please tell your child's teacher if you have any questions about how you can help your child learn to identify feelings and show empathy and compassion at home.
