Final Exam and End of Year Info
As we enter the final grading period of the year, we would like to express our sincerest gratitude for your support during a very eventful school year. Because this year has been one full of new learning for everyone, all North Shore High School students will undergo an adjustment to the calculation of their Spring semester grades.
We understand learning on a virtual platform is not the ideal instructional environment for all students and/or families, and as such, some students, parents, and teachers feel their academic performance may have been affected by having to learn so much more than the content during this year.
As educational providers, we are obligated to ensure a student’s final class average is reflective of his/her ability to master the course content. Because of this obligation, ALL students, whether they remain a remote learner or join us face to face will have their semester exam counted as a major grade for the 6th Six Weeks. Moreover, all students will have the opportunity to have their lowest major grade for the 6th Six Weeks dropped. As a result, the semester exam is eligible to be dropped. A student’s semester exam will only serve to improve the student’s 6th Six Weeks average. All semester exams must be taken face to face. The Spring semester grade will be the average of the 4th Six Weeks, 5th Six Weeks, and 6th Six Weeks averages.
Semester exams for seniors will begin on June 3rd; all other students will begin testing on June 7th. Seniors will have an opportunity to receive a semester exam exemption by attending at least 12 full days of face-to-face instruction between April 26th – May 28th. Please see the attached semester exam schedule. Note the last day of school is Thursday, June 10th; it is an early release day. Students will be released at 11:25 AM.
We are proud of the amazing efforts and perseverance of BOTH our teachers and students during this school year, and we look forward to an even greater 2021-2022 school year.
If you need additional information regarding semester exams, please contact a campus administrator or your student’s classroom teacher.
Sincerely,
North Shore Senior High Administrators
