First Grade at O.C.T.

February 15-19

Highlight of the Week

Thanks to all the parents that helped out at our Valentine’s Party

last Friday. The students had a great time! A special thanks to our homeroom moms and our first grade coordinator, Dawn Hall. We are fortunate to have such a wonderful group of parents!

App of the Week

Play with your kids and teach them to write with the Magnetic Alphabet! It's the iPad edition of the old fashioned magnetic board suitable for kids of all ages! An infinite source of fun and a great way to stimulate their imagination and creativity! Also, it is another fun way to practice their spelling words!

We will be visiting The Perot Museum of Nature and Science on Wednesday, March 2. We will leave OCT at 9:00am and return around 1:30pm. We will be at the museum from 9:45-1:00pm. Any and all parents, grandparents or other relatives are more than welcome to attend. Since you will be directly involved with OCT children, we ask that all chaperones complete the GCISD Background Check. It takes a couple of weeks to process so if you are chaperoning and have not complete one yet do so asap.

You can complete it at

Admission is $5 and will be purchased it at the museum the day of the field trip. Due to limited bus space all chaperones will need to meet us at the museum. Feel free to carpool to save on parking cost:) If you plan on attending the field trip, please let me know so that I can arrange small groups. Hope you can join us!

Six Flags Read to Succeed

Don't forget that the Six Flags Read to Succeed Reading Log is due by February 19. You can send it in anytime before then. Your child will need to have read a total of at least 6 hours in order to qualify for the free ticket to Six Flags.
