Tuesday's Tech Tip

November 18, 2014 - Why don't you use Goolge Timer?

I know that this sounds elementary at the surface, but you'll see that it is an amazing tool to help you in implementing the Fundamental Five.

Google Timer

Google Timer is a simple, yet overlooked, manner in which to implement the Fundamental Five. Here is how you use it and how it can be used:

HOW First load any search engine and type in "Google Timer" and whatever time that you want. Press "Enter." Once your screne pops up all you need to do now is start the timer.

WHY #1 Frequent Small Group Purposeful Talk With this timer, you can build in for yourself a ready to go stop watch that will allow for you to incorporate this Fundamental Five strategy. Since you can define how long the timer runs for, you can easily set up how much time you want to allow the talk for.

WHY #2 Writing Critically Just as with FSGPT you can set up a timer to allow for students to Write Critically and literally build it into your class time. Again, since you can define how long the timer runs for, you can set up how much time you want to allow the students to write for.

CHALLENGE: Use the timer for one week (five days) and intentionally build into your classroom time a few minutes for FSGPT and a few minutes for Writing Critically.
