Shiloh Generals All Pro Dads Breakfast
Wow! What an amazing event. Our Shiloh General Dads showed up in a big way. We started in our staff development room and had to move to the cafeteria in order to hold everyone. Mr. Wytaria Henley did an outstanding job leading the discussion on influence. If your face was not in the place, you definitely missed out. No worries though. We WILL do it again in about 6 weeks. Please be on the look out for your invitation. Take a look at the video of all the pictures that were taken. Thank you Shiloh General Dads! Your presence was definitely known in our building today.
Flu Season
As you all know, the flu has been pretty bad this season. We have students and teachers that have been affected by this. Teachers are in need of tissue, hand sanitizer and lysol wipes. Please feel free to drop them off or send donations with your student. Most importantly, if your student is sick keep them at home. We are trying to minimize the spread of the flu as much as possible. Sick students...and teachers don't do anyone any good.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Early Release days are just around the corner. Teachers are in the process of scheduling conferences. Due to the high number of students, conferences will be scheduled for those students who have been deemed most critical academically or behaviorally. Teachers will email conference requests to those parents.
Basketball Championship
Congratulations to our Boys Basketball team for bringing home the Championship. We are so proud of their accomplishments on the court and in the classroom.
Cell Phone/Device Usage
The expectation at Shiloh Middle is that all cell phones and devices be kept inside of the student's backpack. All backpacks should be keep on the bag hooks in the classroom or other teacher designated area. Students should not have a cell phone/devices on their person while in the classroom, cafeteria, or bathroom. All cell phones/devices should remain inside of a backpack during transition. Any student that does not adhere to these expectations will have their cell phone/device confiscated. Parents will have to come to the school to retrieve confiscated cell phones/devices from an administrator. Students will be permitted to use cell phones/devices during class for instructional purposes only. Thank you for your support in our effort to keep all students focused on academics.
Academic Assistance Program
Tomorrow, February 17, is the second session of Saturday AAP. Parents, make sure that your student has completed any assignments that are due tomorrow. The first class starts at 8:00 AM.
Support our Track and Field Team
Our Track and Field Team will be hosting a fundraising event at Buffalo Wild Wings located at 7322 Stonecrest Concourse, Lithonia on February 17 between noon and 10PM. Please come support them. If you have the attached ticket, the Track and Field Team will receive 10% of you bill. Hope to see you there.
Parent Observation
Our next Parent Observation Day is March 15. However, we welcome you at any time. Please remember these few things when visiting:
- Observations are for you to see how things are being done in the classroom and how your student is responding.
- If you need to meet with the teacher, please schedule a conference.
- Teachers are not available to speak with you about specific issues during instruction time.
- The classroom is a learning environment so we ask that you put your phone on silent or turn it off.
To ALL students
Our 8th grade gifted students are using their talents to assist their peers with math. Peer 2 Peer Math Tutoring is offered on Tuesday and Thursday from 8:15-9:00 for 8th grade students.
What to do if you have a concern.
We value our parents and always want to hear your concerns. In an effort to ensure that all of your concerns are addressed in a timely manner, we ask that you follow these procedures:
- Contact your child's teacher to voice your concern. Teachers can be emailed through the parent portal. Please allow 24 to 36 hours for them to respond. Teachers are not available by phone during the day. The best way to contact them is through email.
- If further attention is needed, contact you child's grade level Assistant Principal.
- If you continue to have a concern after contacting the teacher and Assistant Principal, contact Dr. Welch through email.
