The Patrick Parent Post

Principal's Message
Dear Patrick Parents,
I hope you are enjoying your last few weeks of summer! We are excited about the promise a new school year brings. Our theme this year is, “Stronger than Ever!” Our Patrick community is resilient and strong, and I’m confident this will be our best year yet!
Teachers and staff can’t wait to welcome you to the 2021-2022 school year! Teachers have spent the summer taking advantage of professional learning opportunities to strengthen their craft and prepare for the changing needs and rising expectations that come with the upcoming school year. We are so excited to experience the joy of children each day, and hear the sounds of laughter and learning!
Prior to Open House/Registration, it is very important that you go to www.mypaymentsplus.com and visit your child's account. See the attached MyPaymentsPlus flyer for detailed instructions on how to create an account if needed. MyPaymentsPlus is our preferred place for paying school related fees, making voluntary contributions, and acknowledging important information. You will also need to confirm receipt of the Gwinnett County Public Schools Student and Parent Handbook. Parents, you are required to sign-off on the handbooks on MyPaymentsPlus. We will reward our first class with 100% sign-offs with a pizza party! While contributions are optional, you are strongly encouraged to pay them. Contribution fees help us provide educational opportunities over and beyond the basics. MyPaymentsPlus will be available beginning Monday, July 19, 2021. Thank you in advance for your support!
Please join us for Open House/Registration on Friday, July 30 from 9:30-11:30. Please join us between 9:30-10:30 if your child’s last name begins with A-L. Please join us from 10:30-11:30 if your child’s last name begins with M-Z. You may start in the cafeteria to verify your child's bus route, obtain a car rider tag, and get cafeteria information. You will also be able to join PTA and purchase Patrick spirit wear. Once you are finished in the cafeteria, you may proceed to your child's classroom to meet the teacher. Teachers will collect bus and car rider numbers from you to ensure a safe trip home on the first day. Parents and students are welcome to bring supplies to Open House/Registration. See below for supply lists by grade level.
One of the things that makes Patrick a great school is our parent involvement. I encourage you to get involved throughout the school year. There are multiple opportunities to engage in your child’s educational experience. We hope you will join us for Open House/Registration, Curriculum Nights, and fall and spring conferences. You can also stay plugged in by regularly visiting your child’s eClass page and the GCPS Parent Portal. In addition, we have a wonderful Patrick Elementary PTA that welcomes your membership and involvement.
Thank you for your continued support of Patrick Elementary School. We look forward to a "Puptastic" school year!
Honored to be your principal,
Stephanie Stewart

Devices for Digital Learning Days
Parents who complete the form may pick up a device during Open House/Registration on Friday, July 30th if your child is in grades 2-5 and will need a device for the first days of school.
Instructions for device requests will be sent via email to parents before each future Digital Learning Day to ensure every child has access to a school device who needs one.
If you have any questions about school devices, please feel free to contact Katherine Blevins at katherine.blevins@gcpsk12.org.
Stay Connected
At Patrick Elementary, we value strong communication between school and home. As we begin a new school year, we have a few communication tips to share:
- Be sure to notice our electronic sign at our entrance. We will use this to provide key, timely information to our parents and visitors. We also feature business partners on our sign. (See the PTA link on our website for more information about business partners.)
- Regularly check our school website. It features important information and has a language translation feature. Click here to go to the Patrick School website.
- Email is our primary form of communication. Teachers will also make phone calls periodically. We will be using School Messenger to deliver key information to families. Please see below for an information flyer about the program. School Messenger will input new emails as new students register, so families will automatically receive school emails after registration. It is more important than ever that we have your correct parent email address and phone numbers in our student information system. To update your email or phone number information, please contact your child’s teacher or Kim Junco at kim.junco@gcpsk12.org.
