Where They Formed
These mountains were once on the coast and were then raised to the eastern seabed. They then moved to their present day location of the Piedmont of North Carolina. These mountain ranges lie about 150 miles from the coast of North Carolina

When They Formed
The Uwharrie and Southern Moutain Ranges formed approximately 500,000,000 years ago.
How they formed?
They formed by accretion (gradually growing by the accumulation of additional matter) along the Gondwanan tectonic plate.
