Progressive Discipline Practice of the Week!
Progressive Discipline teacher practice of the week!
This Week:
Mr. Alexander continues to use the Toolbox letter home from the Toolbox curriculum. With this method he is able to easily track data. He reports that one student received multiple letters a day at the beginning of the year and now receives only 1-2 a week.
What are you using to create progressive discipline steps in your classroom?

Originally planned for Wednesday, November 16, the holiday (Thanksgiving) party has been moved to Wednesday, December 14 (time/place: TBD). This event will be a potluck as well as a White Elephant Gift Exchange Party (yep, we're bringing it back!). The GSC will provide paper products and beverages. You will provide the food - so start thinking about that special recipe that you like to make...and a wacky gift that you would like to offload!

Finally, nothing starts a vacation better than a visit to...
PLANK! - All are invited to kick off your Thanksgiving Break with food, beverage and laughter at PLANK (98 Broadway, Jack London Square), on Friday, November 18, 3:30 pm. Join us for this No Host Bar celebration, a guaranteed good time!

BODIES (OPERATIONS & LOGISTICS)
Safety Request from Mr. Miller
A safety concern has been brought up that I want to share with everyone. The white zone in front of the school is not quite large enough to fit the space needed for drop off and pick up. I have been putting cones just outside the white zone to create the needed extra space. I have come out for yard duty in the afternoon to discover that the cones have been moved and cars have shoehorned themselves into the space set aside for pick up and drop off. Please respect the cones and leave that small extra space for safety. Thanks!
Cheers,
John

PLEASE Bring your students out on time for the bus after school, at 2:45 pm. Students should not be arriving at the bus zone unaccompanied, either before or after 2:45 pm (unless traffic squad member).
RAIN...
- All students should be ESCORTED to the Waiting area at Glenview at Santa Fe by a teacher
- Please support the busing process by REMAINING with your students, and assisting with boarding
- Students will be boarded immediately, in the order of their arrival, and not have to remain on the yard in the rain
or…
SHINE…

Reminder re: Playstructure. Please review with your students!
We have had two broken arms already this year!
1) Walk in the play structure area.
2) Chasing, tag, ball games, and running games are not allowed on top of the structure, near the mats or near the structure.
3) No jumping off the structure.
4) One person at a time uses the slide. Slides are only used in one direction (down).
5) Do not crawl, climb, or hang upside down from the top of the monkey bars.
6) There is only one direction at a time on the monkey bars. One student goes across while the others wait.
7) When the whistle blows students on the yard are expected to stop all activity and "take a knee". The supervising teacher will wait for all children to freeze. The whistle will be blown twice indicating students should walk to line.
8) If a student does not follow the rules, they will be asked to leave the play structure for that day and can try again the next day.
