Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is around the corner! That means valentines and class parties. In preparation, we have created a sign up for you to sign up to help contribute items to the party. Below are the teacher's sign ups.

Each classroom teacher has sent home instructions for how they are going to do the Valentines for their unique classroom situation.

Remember your Valentine's Bag!

Instead of a box, we have decided to decorate bags in order to make it easier for students to transport their Valentine's home. Please make sure the bags return to school before Friday, February 12th.

Six Flags Read to Succeed

We are approaching the deadline for students to return their Six Flags reading logs. Students who have logged at least 6 hours of reading will receive a free Six Flags ticket. We need these reading logs signed by a parent and turned back in to the homeroom teacher by February 22nd. Please use the link below if you need a new or additional reading log.

Ranger Round-Up and Hall of Fame Next Week have moved Days!

Assembly has been moved from Friday February 12th, to Thursday, Feb 11th. Second grade will also be doing hall of fame that Thursday.

Grandparents Breakfast

All grandparents are invited to join us for a grandparents breakfast, next Friday, February 12th at 8:00 am. Make sure you send the gold sheet back, so that we can get an idea of how many people to expect. We hope to see you there!

Math

During this week in math, students continued working with four-digit numbers. They wrote numbers up to 1,200 and also wrote them in word form. Furthermore, students used base-10 blocks and numeral expanders as tools to practice place values to add and subtract. They also continued their math PBL.

Science

This week in Science we have been looking at weather. We have focused on stormy weather, such as tornadoes, hurricanes and thunderstorms.

Readers & Writers Workshop

This week we worked on non-fiction summaries. We took the information that we learned about penguins from last week and turned that information into a reading response. In their reading response, the students had to identify the main idea of a text and support with text evidence.

Social Studies

This week in Social Studies we discussed the difference between producers and consumers. We talked about examples of producers and consumers as well as what is the difference between the terms. We discussed how they are both needed for our economy.
