End of the Year Checklist:
It's that time of year again! As we prepare to finish the 2017/18 school year, all faculty members will need to begin completing their End of the Year Checklist. Once compelted, sign and return the completed End-of-Year-Checklist with attached Technology Checklist to Christina Marte before you leave for the summer.
End of the Year Notes:
May 29th - 31st are work days as needed for faculty
We are currently exploring a digital option for verification sheets
If one of your student is absent from your final exam, please give a copy of the exam and answer key to Kristine Owens
All grading information MUST be entered in your gradebooks by 9:00 am on May 30th (seniors on May 29th by 9 am). If your gradebooks are ready prior to these dates, a Google Form will be available for you to inform me that they are ready.
For access to an End of the Year Calendar, please click HERE.
End of the Year Grading
As we prepare to finalize our grades for the second semester, I would ask that you please take a few minutes to review the end of year grading procedures. These procedures can be found on slides 26-29 in the SDS Hyperdoc Bootcamp. Grades for seniors will be due by 9 am on May 30th and grades for all remaining grade levels will be due by 9 am on May 31st. If you have any questions or concerns, please email Joe Lascon.
This year, we will introduce the option for faculty to check verification sheets online (they will be emailed) and digitally sign them. I will have more information about this next week.
Final Exams Are Coming!
The schedule for final exams is listed just above this message. Please be sure to read the additional important information regarding exams that follows. If you have questions, please contact Kristine.
1. Students may not take exams early If unique circumstances arise, please direct the student to administration who will review the request.
++ Official exam make-up days are Tuesday, May 29th and Wednesday, May 30th. Student Services will coordinate proctoring the make-up exams.
++ At their discretion, teachers may schedule times for students to make up missed exams. However, those times must be after the official date and time for that exam. Additionally, these exceptions must be sent to Kristine in advance.
2. Some teachers may be evaluating student learning with non-traditional assessments such as presentations or projects. On the day of the final exam, although there may be no traditional test to take, teachers should plan learning activities involving points that will be counted toward the students’ grades in the class.
++ Students who are not present for the class will receive zero points for this work unless they have excused absences. Those with excused absences should be exempted from the work.
++ Seniors who are exempt from semester exams should be exempted from this in-class learning activity. Those seniors do not need to be in class.
3. We have a handful of students who missed their official test dates for AP exams. Those students are being scheduled to take make up AP exams. Unfortunately, the official make up days are the same days as semester exams here at Res. Those days are set by the College Board and Resurrection has no ability to change the dates.
++ Students who are in this situation should be notifying you that they will not be in your class during the final exam time. They will make up their missed exams on Tuesday, May 29th or Wednesday, May 30th.
++ If you have one of these students, you are welcome - at your discretion - to schedule a time to give her your final exam yourself. The only requirement is that the final exam must be given after the official day and time for which your exam was scheduled.
Weekly Shoutouts!
- Megan Leider for creating, coordinating and empowering our students in the first annual Biology Research Symposium.
- Meredith Rogers, Mary Bridich and Sheri Damery for coordinating the Signing Celebration for our seniors on May 1!
- Molly McLoughlin for the untold hours of work that went in to a powerful spring Orchesis performance!
- Julie Lomer for making her Geometry students' learning come to life. Students had to design their own castles using Tinkercad. Once their castles were designed, students were tasked with determining the volume of particular parts of their castles - volume of a sphere, of a rectangular prism, etc.
- Deacon Johh, Mike Longo and Bridget Kancler for all they did to provide a lovely May Crowning and liturgical celebration!
- Jen Salerno and Georganne Moreth for her continuing work with the numerous seniors events and all the details that go along with them!
- Bridget Kancler, Amanda Stieber and Megan Leider for taking their students on field experiences outside of the school building. Our Choir performed beautifully for area-grade schools. Our Practicum students participated in Trauma Day at Advocate Lutheran. Our Honors Biology students visited the cadaver lab at Rush.
- Ann Marie Schneider for all the behind-the-scenes organization and attention to detail involved in seamless AP testing which continues next week.
- Mary Katherine Bohlander and Jen Salerno for their many hours of preparation to showcase their students' outstanding work, both visual art and stage performance.
- Sr. Mary Ann, Nicole McGrath, Karen Groszek, Meredith Rogers, Sheri Damery and Megan Leider for all of their work with the teacher interview committees.
