September Focus: Leading from the Heart of the School
Throughout the 2021-2022 school year, we will be focusing on different aspects of the school library media program. Each month will have a different focus. In September, we will be emphasizing these components of Leadership:

Vision and Mission of Library Media Services
Vision
Promote collaborative library media environments that empower library media specialists to be innovative and build relationships
Mission
- Collaboration: Champion collaboration through professional learning opportunities and communication avenues that increase capacity and provide networking opportunities
- Innovation: Provide support that showcases the innovative practices of the school library media center as a result of easy and efficient access to digital resources
- Trust: Strengthen relationships with library media personnel through transparency in communication and responsiveness to needs

On Tuesday, September 7, at 3:30 p.m., we will have a networking session for anyone who wants to discuss vision and mission statements, including examples and ways to develop these statements.

Masters of Curation
What is Masters of Curation?
Masters of Curation is a cohort spanning the school year that will educate participants on the topics related to the curation of digital content. This cohort will focus on providing practical guidance in locating and applying openly available resources. It is expected upon completion of year one participants will be able to:
- Describe the meaning of open educational resources.
- Differentiate the concepts of open licensing, public domain, and all rights reserved copyrights.
- Identify resources that are openly licensed or in the public domain.
- Distinguish the different types of Creative Commons licenses.
- Find open educational resources and properly attribute a work offered under a Creative Commons license
At the end of the year participants who have completed the following criteria will earn the Masters of Curation badge:
- Attend 80% of scheduled training sessions
- Evaluate 25 resources currently in LOR/TRL
- Complete all training session quizzes with >= 90% accuracy
The first virtual meeting of Masters of Curation will take place September 22, 2021, 3:30-4:30 PM. If you are interested in participating, please complete the interest survey located on this form. If you are unable to attend at the time of the event, you may view the recording after. October Preview
In October, our focus will be on Teaching and Learning - Literacy: Disciplinary Literacy and Digital Literacy. Some of the professional learning and collaborative sessions that will be available include:

Detailed Instructions for Joining Community
1. Go to community.gadoe.org and create an account using your RESA or district issued email. Use your work email as your user name. Your account (district email only) will be approved within 24 hours Monday-Friday.
2. After waiting about 24 hours (you will not receive an approval email), sign in, then create and complete your user profile.
3. Explore the content in the menu to the left of the site. Please be sure to check out the Terms of Service for Community in the menu. All information in Community is subject to Open Records, records retention, and FERPA guidelines.
4. Join the Library Media group and begin collaborating.
