Dear Families,

Wishing all those special women in someone's life a happy Mother's Day. We hope you enjoyed this beautiful weekend weather wise!

We will be recognizing our amazing educators and support staff this week! A huge thank you for all that they do for their colleagues, families, and students at GPS - it would not be the same place without them!

A big thank you to Ms. A, Ms. V and Ms. Z for their coaching this spring. Our grizzly athletes have made us proud in both Junior Basketball and Running Club. Although these sports are finished for the season...stay tuned for track and field & ultimate frisbee to come.

This week, we welcomed LDSB math tutor, Amber Allport, who worked with some of our Grade 7-8 students in math. Parents were already informed if their student is receiving additional tutoring.

Mrs. Lalonde (Assistive Technology Resource Teacher with LDSB) will be at Glenburnie P.S. on Tuesday to work with our Grade 3 and Grade 6 educators and students to get ready for EQAO. They have already practiced some EQAO sample assessments, so this session will focus more on computer skills as the majority of the assessments will now be completed online. A general letter was sent home to Grade 3 and 6 families. Students who have IEPs will be receiving EQAO accommodations letters this week! Please reach out to your child's classroom teacher or Mrs. Paquin or Ms. Wyatt if you have questions.

Another important reminder/request to please respect the 8:55am drop off time. If you arrive early, please keep your child in the vehicle with you until you see a staff member outside at 8:55 welcoming students. Even if school busses arrive before this time, they are to keep their doors closed until this point so that we can ensure that all students are supervised.

Are you curious about our school council and interested being a part of it, volunteering in other ways, or learning more. There will be a school council meeting this Monday in they gym at 6:30. New members are always welcome!

Looking forward to a great week!

Glenburnie Family Picnic

Save the date...We have missed getting together...so on Friday May 27th we would like to invite you to come to Glenburnie P.S. for a community picnic from 2:00-3:30pm. Please bring your own picnic blankets, and chairs. Hot dogs, popcorn, drinks and freezies will be supplied by our school council. This will be a casual opportunity for families, staff and students to socialize. All are welcome! We do realize that this timeframe may not be possible for everyone. If no one is able to come to be with your child during that time, please let us know so that we can ensure they have a group. We can't wait to see you!

Bingo!

Dear Grizzly family and friends!!

Bingo is back up and running and what a simple and easy way to fundraise for your school!

NO monthly meetings to attend!

NO awkwardly trying to sell something to your neighbours!

NO counting cash

The only requirement is a two hour shift at the Community Spirit Bingo hall! You don't even need to have kids at the school to volunteer!

The schedule is set for the year, so reply quickly to get the dates you can attend! Sign up your partner and have that long awaited date night just the two of you (surrounded with the bingo players of Kingston). Dating with a cause! Already spent too much time with your significant other - sign up with your co-workers and get runited, really work on those team building skills! Miss your mother? Bring her with you, get grandma all caught up with the latest gossip!

We look forward to hearing from you to help our school community grow, with only a short two hour commitment! All proceeds raised go directly into the school to buy new technology, items classrooms need, provide funds for field trips and even pizza days for the entire school! Here are pictures of just some of the things, our bingo proceeds have been used for this year...

Kindergarten Registration is now open

KE 30 SECOND 2021 UPDATE 1920 x 1080

Welcome to Kindergarten at Glenburnie Public School This is an exciting time for both you and your student. Kindergarten is a two-year, full-day program that helps children get the best possible start in school. Your student will be challenged and encouraged to do their very best. Our caring team of educators is with them every step of the way!

Kindergarten programs in Ontario offer a full day of learning for four- and five-year-olds. At Glenburnie P.S., our Kindergarten program aims to nurture the whole child. In Kindergarten classrooms, a teacher and an early childhood educator work together as a team. This partnership helps to create a nurturing learning environment; giving every student the opportunity to learn in the way that is best suited to their individual strengths and needs.

If your student is four or five by the end of the year, now is the time to register for September 2022. your student here

You can feel confident your student will be cared for within safe and inclusive environments. We want everyone to see themselves in Limestone. We typically welcome new families to Kindergarten orientation events in May of each year. We will share more about these opportunities and when families can visit the school with their student soon.

Starting Kindergarten is an exciting time for everyone, and here at Glenburnie P.S. we are ready to welcome your student to a wonderful new world of learning and growing.

Thank you for choosing Glenburnie Public School. We look forward to meeting you.

Sincerely,

Jean Paquin

Principal
