Earthquakes PBL
During our earthquake unit, our class had a group project in which we had to design a house for Tony Stark. The driving question was, "how can we as structural engineers build a two story house in California for Tony Stark that will withstand seismic activity?" The house had to withstand seismic activity, and to represent the seismic activity, Mrs. Smith shook our built house on a tray. The design for the house I made was made out of popsicle sticks. My team and I came up with the idea to puncture holes into the base of the house, which was a paper plate. This idea made the perfect structured base for the house. While doing this project, I learned how about the different kind of houses that can withstand seismic activity, the areas that are less prone to earthquakes, and most of all, teamwork.
30 Hands Project
During our 30 Hands project, I learned about the greenhouse effect, climate change, and global warming. I also learned how these changes and effects impact our world. The last thing I learned was how to use 30 Hands which is an app that makes presentation making fun! What I enjoyed about the project was making pic collages because I got to find pictures and make my presention look presentable. I also enjoyed learning about how human can help the world slowly decrease global warming.
Invention Convention
My partner and I are building a solar powered car, but we are focusing on the solar cell storage. Our innovation helps to decrease the use of fossil feuls. Decreasing the use of fossil feuls also helps stop air pollution. With air pollution getting better, our innovation will also slowly decrease global warming. Our innovaton absorbs the sun's rays and the rays get stored in our high tech solar cell, so when it is not sunny, you can still use the car for a long period of time.

Extra Credit Paragraph: Plate Techtonics
My favorite unit we learned in science was plate techtonics. I liked learning about the different layers of the earth and what each of them ar made of. I also liked learning about how the mantle can create subduction and sea floor spreading. Most of all, this is my favorite unit because most of our units revolved around plate techtonics. During this unit I learned about Alfred Wegener and his theory of the world once being a big piece and how each continent represents a puzzle piece. I also learned about subduction and seafloor spreading, and of course, the layers of the earth. My favorite lab in this unit were cutting open an egg to demonstrate how it relates to the layers of the earth, and also using Snikers to show how it can relate to the continents spreading.
