A Message from Ms. Lilly
RNE Newsletter December 1st, 2016
The Principal's Office
I hope everyone had a wonderful week off filled with family and fun! It is hard to believe we are rapidly approaching the half way point for the 2016-17 year.
I want to thank everyone for their patience yesterday during the storm. I was so proud of our staff and students. Everyone was calm and arrived home safely!
The results of our water testing for lead were reported this week. I am happy to report that all areas tested for RNE passed. I have included the letter from the district at the bottom of the newsletter.
3rd and 5th grade students will bring home their results for the IOWA Assessment on Friday. This assessment better aligns with current content that is relevant, authentic, novel, timely and interesting to students. Teachers will use the results of this assessment to help drive instruction in the classroom. If you have any questions about the results please contact your child's teacher.
Your input is needed to ensure we are communicating in the most effective manner. Please take a few minutes to complete the communication survey included in the newsletter to help us determine how we may improve in this area.
Our Roswell Hornets take on Westlake tomorrow evening in the high school football playoffs! We know the Hornets will be victorious!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Best,
Maureen

Please donate to the Foundation today and make a difference in the lives of RNE students. Give online at www.RNEFoundation.com or send in a check payable to the RNE Foundation using the solicitation form sent home earlier in your child’s Friday folder. Water Testing
Following reports of elevated lead levels in some public buildings in metro Atlanta, Fulton County Schools made a decision last month to conduct voluntary water quality testing at all schools and administrative facilities. This testing process included your school.
Today, we are able to report the results, which were conducted by an independent environmental testing firm and analyzed by a third-party laboratory. At your school, there were 82 areas tested, and of those, none (zero) exceeded the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) recommended lead limit of 15 parts per billion (ppb).
We understand that water quality test results can cause concerns and we want to assure you that the health and safety of our students, staff and the school community are our highest priority. To that end, Fulton County Schools will continue to work closely with independent consultants and the Fulton County Department of Health and Wellness to ensure that follow-up testing is performed at schools and other facilities that have had test results higher than the EPA’s recommended limits.
Finally, if you have questions or would like additional information, please go the FCS website at www.fultonschools.org and visit the Water Testing section on the front page. There you will find the report for your school and others (which have had their testing completed) as well as additional resources about this topic. A phone line (470-254-3200) and email address (questions@fultonschools.org) also have been set up for our community to leave general questions to be added to the district’s Q&A on the website.
