U of I Survey for Educators of Color

A research team at the University of Iowa is conducting a study to learn more about the experiences of educators of color working in Iowa public schools. We encourage WDMCS staff who identify as an educator of color to take this survey.

Acclaimed Author to Visit WDMCS April 24

In partnership with the West Des Moines Public Library and Rotary of West Des Moines, West Des Moines Community Schools (WDMCS) is excited to have New York Times-bestselling author Laurie Halse Anderson visit the district as part of the WDMCS Reads initiative.

Anderson will be at WDMCS on April 24, speaking with students in grades 5-12 throughout the day and with the public later that evening. She is known for tackling tough subjects with humor and sensitivity.

In conjunction to Anderson’s visit, WDMCS Community Education is hosting a “Speaking of Consent” workshop on April 30 through ParentQuest—a district program that provides a variety of opportunities for parents and other caring adults as they navigate each child’s path to success in school and life.
