Reading & Writing
Reading
This week in reading we have reviewed our reading workshop expectations. We have also discovered the different characteristics of traditional literature using mentor texts. We have learned the differences and similarities between fairy tales, fables, myths, legends and folktales.
**Reading Homework has gone home today as well and directions are attached to the reading log.
Writing
This week we have been discovering the different ways and reasons authors use Writer’s Notebooks while collecting our own memories, people, hobbies and things that are special to pull for future writing samples. We were also introduced to the Writing Process this week.
Math & Science
Math
This week in math we have been working on composing and decomposing numbers. We are using place value charts to organize our numbers. We have also learned how to compare and order numbers.
Math Homework is due Friday and week 3 homework will be sent home on Friday.
Science
In science this week we have been working on forces. Please look in study guide to see highlighted words and clues.
Social Studies
Social Studies
This week we are talking about people who have made a difference in our community. A couple examples are Hellen Keller and Clara Barton.
