Valley High School Update


Academics Next week will be a regular week. Tuesday, December 7th is an Encore day. We are excited to announce we are hosting Waukee Northwest Student Council on Tuesday, December 7th as the first part of a student exchange! Due to the exchange, the Media Center will be closed before school and during lunch on Tuesday, December 7th .	Arts Make sure to put the Vocal Music 9-12 Concert on December 14th at 7:00 pm in the PAC on your calendars! For students interested in IHSSA Individual Events (acting, oratory, radio, poetry, prose, storytelling, public address, etc..) join the Valley Speech Team! Please plan to attend one of the following auditions: Monday, December 6th or Thursday, December 9th, both at 3:30 PM in room 1716. See Ms. Engelmann for more information. Come prepared to read/recite a short piece of your choice, or sing a short bit for musical theater. IHSSA Large Group Season is here! Traditionally, Junior parents have worked to gather donations, determine a theme, plan the event activities, and supervise the event. Without parent leadership, this event will not take place. Please reach out to Valley Associate Principal Shannon Campbell (campbells@wdmcs) for more information. We have seen an increase of deliveries to the building for students (birthday gifts, food deliveries, balloons, etc.). Deliveries are not allowed during the school day. For families interested in purchasing senior recognition ads, we are providing this opportunity for two days only, December 7 & 8. Ads can be purchased at yearbookordercenter.com with code 3694. Chess Club has resumed match play Tuesdays after school in the Media Center. Students who are interested in poetry, prose or artwork are encouraged to submit their work to Ms. Perry (perrye@wdmcs.org) for a chance to be featured in Valley's literary magazine, Ink. Prayer Club meets Friday morning at 7:20 AM in Mrs. Stanfel's room, 1607. Come for breakfast, fellowship and prayer. Join the Greenhouse Club in room 1329 the first and third Wednesdays of each month after school. Gender Sexuality Alliance (GSA) meets Thursdays 3:30-4:15 in room 3422. Join us for Anime Club every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 7:30 AM in Ms. Stanfel's Room 1607.
