December 2, 2016
We have had a wonderful start for December! With the excitement of one holiday season leading into another, I want to remind you of safety and procedures. Please remember that you and any adult guests must check in at the kiosk with drivers license or passport. I know many of us have family coming to visit but we must continue to practice our daily procedures to ensure safety for all.
If you are bringing a treat to a class, please be sure you are cognizant of allergies. We have many students with allergies to foods such as nuts, eggs, milk, etc. Please check with your child's teacher to be sure that you provide a safe treat for all students. We want everyone to safely enjoy these special treats.
Please remember that attendance is important. Three unexcused tardies result in one unexcused absence. After 3 consecutive unexcused absences or 5 unexcused absences, a student is truant and an attendance plan is developed. Please remember to send in a parent note or doctor's note to excuse your student's absences. By state law we can only accept 10 parent notes. After 10, then all excused absences must be with a medical note. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact me or our office staff.
Also, please take note that Wednesday, December 7, is a full day of instruction. Collaborative Planning with early dismissal was canceled so that instructional time could be recovered from our missed days in October.
I am so excited to share that our Chorus is hard at work learning and practicing their musical selections for our Winter Sing-a-Long on Thursday, December 15. Please mark your calendars for this event!
Have a wonderful weekend and read a great book with our Mustangs!!!
Yours truly,
Jan Fickling, Principal of Midway Elementary

Special Request from the MES yearbook team....
The yearbook team has a special request. We are in need of some large cardboard boxes in order to make some large picture frames that we can use this year.
Many of our families will be shopping over the break grabbing up those sales on big items. We hope to have at least 5 frames we could use this year and that you can use at different events as well. You can drop these off in the school front lobby or main office and we will get them to Mrs. Mixon. Thanks!
