Lincoln Middle School Updates
April 16, 2021
Principal's Message
Lincoln Families,
Successful Return
We just completed our second week on the hybrid model and it has gone really well. Our students have had the opportunity to learn on campus, in a room with their teachers for a total of four days. As I visited classes, I saw students who were engaged, respectful and responsive to their teachers. Our teachers are enjoying the smaller class sizes. Several have told me that they are more able to work more deeply with individual students with half the class in the room. Students have been great about wearing masks and being Covid-safe. Thank you, families, for sending such wonderful kids to Lincoln.
Being Covid Careful
If you keep your child home from school, especially if your child wakes up with any symptom that could possibly be Covid, please call the school as soon as possible. Our office number is 760.901.8900. Your call to us is very important, as we have to follow up on every absence to ensure that we are keeping the school Covid-safe.
Grades
Students will receive 12-week grades for the second semester next week. These are the grades we use for second semester awards.
PIZZA!
How about supporting our PTSA by ordering pizza from Knockout Pizza next Thursday? Our PTSA provides many "extras" for our students: assemblies, field trips, guest speakers and extra items for classrooms. The folks at Knockout Pizza have been very generous with us. Please see the ad below for details.
Promotion Ceremony and Awards
Please watch the Friday update each week for information on how we will observe our promotion ceremony for 8th graders and awards ceremonies for all grades.
Summer School
Summer school opportunities will soon be announced. We want to offer students a second chance at learning this year's standards before moving on to the next grade in August.
Online Safety
We recently added a new feature to our in-district email and internet systems. Our new filter looks for inappropriate words and images and threats of violence or harm. I have been sharing in the morning announcements that anything that goes through the district system and is flagged will be sent to my inbox. Please encourage your child to think twice before hitting send.
Early Pickup
If you need to pick up your child for an appointment, please note that Student pick-up is only available up to 10 minutes prior to release time. And to make things run even smoother, call ahead and we can have your child waiting for you.
Surveys
Students will be taking surveys through April 23rd through their Advisory classes. Parents are also invited to take a survey through May 12 at https://wested.ugam-apps.com/wed/ts/O1EQ
Personal Devices
To use a personal device and not an OUSD Chromebook, our district uses a web filter to join the OUSD network and needs to have a certificate installed at home. Visit our Certificate Installation website dial 760.966.4444 (7 a.m. - 4 p.m.) for support.
