FEBRUARY BOOMERANG DISTRICT WINNER
In our last newsletter, we recognized students who were nominated for our February Asset: Interpersonal Competence. Young person has empathy, sensitivity, and friendship skills. Young person cares about and is aware of other people's feelings. CB West student, Courtney Carr was selected as the overall district winner. Here is an excerpt from her nomination:
Courtney Carr is a senior who exemplifies this Asset – Interpersonal Confidence. Courtney was selected to be in our social skills advisory as a peer buddy to students who struggled with social skills. She has proven to be much more than an advisory buddy. She has befriended each and every student in advisory and helped them through social problems, family problems and other issues that teens struggle to cope with. Courtney is also part of the Best Buddies club, as well as BARC and has newly joined the Knitting for the Kneedy. She played an active role in our Mini-THON club last year as well. Courtney is not just a role model for the students in advisory and these many other clubs that she is in, she’s a role model for our community. Recently she organized a peaceful activity in Doylestown to combat the hateful literature that was found around town. She was recognized in several newspapers for helping to organize a session of making and hanging cards/peaceful fliers around Doylestown. Courtney has also attended School Board meetings to voice her opinion on what would make Central Bucks a better place for all students. The amount of bravery she has to stand up and do what she thinks is right is astounding. Though she knows, as a senior, things won’t change for her – she uses her voice in hopes that things might change for future Central Bucks students.
