The grand finale of a year-long series of Caxton Club readings in honor of the 50th Anniversary of the Program in Creative Writing, we welcome Marilynne Robinson, the recipient of a 2012 National Humanities Medal, awarded by President Barack Obama, for “her grace and intelligence in writing.”
IES Dublin Writers Program Info Session with Stephen McMahon

Interested in study in Dublin on the IES Writers Program? Curious about IES programs abroad? Join Erin McIntree and program director and writer Stephen McMahon for this early evening info session in Alumni Hall.
Choose from a range of writing-related courses, Irish studies courses, or an internship or service learning placement to create your 15-credit program. Participating in a writing-focused internship or service learning placement and accompanying seminar is a unique way to apply what you’re learning in your writing classes within a real-world setting. Each semester, an anthology of all types of student work will be compiled, and you'll also have the option of reading it in front of an audience.

Self-care is something that we must partake in to succeed. However, self-care isn’t always pretty! During this event, we will be discussing multiple ways to look at and implement your anchors as a way to improve self-care and increase academic success.
Chemistry Rocks

We are surrounded by rocks and minerals everywhere... in the ground we walk on, the places we work and live, and even in the food we eat. How are chemists experimenting with these fundamental materials to help the world and make our lives better? Chemistry club will host a live interactive broadcast where you will have the opportunity to network with young chemists across the world on social media, participate in discussion and activities, and ask questions live to the experts regarding the amazing work that is being done in rock and mineral science. Free rock related candy, raffle of various prizes at the end.
Jump Simulation Center Summer Medical Immersion

Six Knox students spent two weeks in a medical immersion internship in Peoria this summer training at the Jump Simulation Center and shadowing University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria physicians. Come hear about their experiences in the simulation center and learn how you can apply for summer 2018.

Have you ever wonder what a Hijab is and who wears one and why? Have you ever wondered what the Torah is? What religion has reincarnation in their belief system? Come by for lunch to learn what might be the answer to these questions, and help us come up with some new ones! In a friendly non-judgy environment we will share lunch (coffee, tea, or hot chocolate) in the cafe on Wednesday, get to know each other, and learn about each other!

Jazz Night (Not That One)

Alpha Phi Omega, WVKC, and Improv club are all joining together for Jazz Night (Not That One) in Taylor Lounge. The show will feature Jazz music, comedy sketches, and poetry readings.
Our goal is to raise money through raffle sales for various prizes. After the event, we’ll donate all proceeds to an organization called Little Kids Rock, which seeks to fund music education in public schools across the United States.
Each payment of $2 will enter your name once. You may enter as many times as you want. Donors will pay now and receive their ticket(s) on Friday (10/27) in the Taylor Lounge, during the event.
We'll be tabling during lunch and dinner throughout the week until the event.

In The Tragical History of the Life and Death of Doctor Faustus, by Christopher Marlowe, Doctor John Faustus has always been a proud and intelligent scholar, but his thirst for knowledge can no longer be sated by his usual topics of study. An interest in the occult leads him to summon an archdevil companion of his own, Mephistopheles, and to trade his soul for 24 years of absolute power. Directed by Sarah Lowe '18.
