Student Led Conferences - Everyone should be here
We have previously shared and discussed that the responsibility for a successful conference rests on the shoulders of the students. They should choose work samples to share with their parents and you should choose samples. Please also include any benchmark data that you have. The link to a video shared with you previously is below. You might consider showing this video to your students as it can help them have that conversation with their parents.
Looking Forward
Please look at the comparative data using last year's STAAR results and this year's benchmark results. We will gladly help you create a side-by-side spreadsheet in Eduphoria which you can export to Excel and then filter, if you would like.
In addition to us knowing how the students did, it is important that the students know how they did. There is a link below that you can use with your students. Have them write in their score from last year's STAAR test, their score from the benchmark test, and then a goal for this year's STAAR test. Have them tape it to the back of their ID card and ask them from time to time, "What's your benchmark number?...What's your STAAR goal?" Eventually, they should be able to give you these numbers without looking at the back of their ID card. Have them also chart their progress on each unit assessment so they know how well they are progressing towards their goal.
Thanks for your hard work on behalf of our kids.
How do you stay on top of everything you need to know?
I spend considerable time each weekend putting this newsletter together, primarily because I do not like having to schedule meetings that end up being me giving you informational items only. I'd much rather spend our time in more productive ways, such as PLCs.
Everyone is responsible for knowing the information shared in these newsletters.
Thank you,
Dr. H
