Message from the Principal
Charger Families,
We are already looking toward spring break and the last 2 months of school! How is that even possible?!
Students and staff have been hard at work with all things academic, as well as social/behavioral skills for success. We have seen some incredible growth so far this year and look forward to seeing what end of year measures will show!
We have many exciting things on the calendar for the spring and hope you and your family will be able to join us! Check the calendar below for details!
We are looking forward to student-led conferences on March 31 and April 2. This is a great chance to visit with your child's teacher about his/er progress, as well as have your child lead you through some classroom activities. We hope to see you for conferences! Be watching for a scheduling notice from your child's teacher.
Sincerely,
Sue Haugen, Principal

Reminder about illness
Symptoms that need to be goen for 24 hours before returning to school:
- fever in excess of 100 degrees
- vomiting
- diarrhea
- persistent rash
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to call Nurse Judy to talk with her. Our goal is to keep our students healthy so they can attend school and be great learners!
Important Daily Arrival Reminder
Morning Meeting is immediately following breakfast, at 7:45.
It is essential that our students arrive BEFORE 7:45 so they can eat and participate in Morning Meeting, so they can connect with their class for a successful day.
Thank you for making sure your child arrives to school ON TIME so they are READY FOR SUCCESS!
Attendance Matters!
Attendance is incredibly important. We want to make sure students are at school and on time so they are learning. We are working hard this year to focus on attendance and have some different incentives going on for classrooms. Each month we will have one classroom that is the winner of our attendance bracket. This class will receive a treat from us!
We appreciate you letting us know when your child is going to be out. Mrs. Kaylie and Ms. Jamie, in the office, will take your call and record this information. If your child is absent and we haven't heard from you, Ms. Jamie will be giving you a call to check in.
You may also receive a call from Dr. Day, our assistant principal, at some point to touch base with you on your child's attendance.
Thank you for helping your child learn by being at school and on time!
Focus on Parenting - We Wish Kids Would Always Be Kind
In Love and Logic, we often separate the things we CAN control from the things we WISH we could control. A giant wish shared by many educators and parents is that kids will always be kind to one another. Cruel comments and malicious teasing can be devastating.
Sadly, our wish that kids will always be kind has to do with something beyond our direct control–the behavior of others. The good news is that we CAN control our own actions by:
1. Intentionally modeling kindness
We can make sure that kids see us regularly displaying kindness toward others. Our example is a powerful force.
2. Intentionally noticing and celebrating kindness
We can watch for, and celebrate, acts of kindness we see from kids. We can raise the odds of kindness by noticing even small acts of kindness and then celebrating them without causing embarrassment.
3. Providing healthy outlets
Some kids mistreat their peers and stir up conflict out of sheer boredom. We can make sure that kids have plenty to do, including outlets for their creativity, energy, and desire to play.
4. Controlling kids’ access to one another
When kids are mean to others, we might be able to limit their access to peers (in-person or online). “We want you out here playing with the other kids – as long as we don’t have to worry about them being pushed around and called names.”
5. Providing consequences for unkind behavior
We can expect kids to solve problems (and, hopefully, restore relationships) using restitution. In many cases, kind gestures that benefit the family/community or the offended party can create win-win scenarios.
It is a noble wish that kids will be kind to one another. We know that this wish will not always come true, but focusing on what we can control will raise the odds of kindness all around.
