Rock Ledge Intermediate Center
October 2023
A Note from Mrs. McKeefry
Cooler days and changing colors are a sign that October is here! Temperatures are unpredictable this time of year so please make sure your child brings jacket or sweatshirt to wear outside on cooler days. Students have been busy learning routines and getting back into the swing of school. As I walk into classrooms, I see students reading, writing, and doing science activities as well as many other things. It is great to see the students engaged every day!

Welcome to RLI!
Welcome Ms. Plummer
Hello! My name is Miss Plummer and I am teaching 4th grade at RLI this year. Some of you may have seen me around last year, as I was lucky enough to complete my student teaching experience with Mrs. Reuter! This is my first year teaching, as I just graduated with my degree in Elementary Education from St. Norbert College last May. I have always loved the tight-knit, supportive community, and I found that here in Seymour!
When I am not at school, I love spending time with family and friends! I am a big fan of all things outdoors and am often found cheering on our Wisconsin sports teams!
I am so excited to make this year the best it can be!
Welcome Mrs. Kocken
Hello! My name is April Kocken and I am the new 3rd grade teacher here at RLI. I am super excited to be here! My husband, Mr. Mason, and I now both work here. I actually grew up here and graduated from Seymour High School in 2018. I graduated from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in 2020 with my Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education. I then transferred to the University of Wisconsin Green Bay where I completed my Bachelors degree in Elementary Education. I was a long term sub in West De Pere last year. I also subbed in Seymour and Pulaski school districts. This is my first official teaching job and I am glad it's in a school community I am so connected to!
When I am not at school I love reading, watching movies, spending time with my family and friends, and playing games with Mr. Mason!
National School Custodian Day
October 2nd is National School Custodian Day. We would like to recognize our school custodians. We appreciate the hard work they put into making sure our schools are properly maintained and cleaned-which is no small endeavor! Thank you Mr. VanDeHei, Mrs. Doughty, and Ms. Malcheski!
WI School Board Week is October 1st-7th
The Wisconsin Association of School Boards has designated Oct. 1st-7th as Wisconsin School Board Appreciation Week. We'd like to take this opportunity to recognize the vital work that our school board of education plays in our school and our community. The members, along with the year they started serving the district are as follows:
- Paula Rohm, President (2009)
- Tony Kastning , Vice President (2022)
- Steven Kane, Treasurer (2022)
- Mike Cottrell, Clerk (2020)
