Principals' Post
Hello Panther Families,
The health and safety of our students is our top priority, so we want to share with you information that the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) has published for schools throughout the state.
The good news at this time is that the health risk to the general public from coronavirus remains low. Currently, the IDPH recommends schools hold classes and events as usual, and follow routine cleaning and disinfecting procedures; no special measures are necessary.
The IDPH also recommends the best way to protect against coronavirus is by taking the same everyday precautions against getting sick in general. These include:
- Washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
- Avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Avoiding close contact with people who are sick.
- Staying home when you are sick.
- Covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched objects and surfaces.

We will continue to monitor recommendations regarding coronavirus and will update you as soon as there are any significant changes in recommendations for schools. Thank you for your support in helping to keep our school community healthy.
Parents should keep their children home from school if they have the following
Fever above 100 degrees, vomiting, diarrhea - children must be FREE of symptoms for 24 hours before they can return to school
Strep throat or Pink Eye has been diagnosed by a doctor - children are not cleared to return to school until 24 hours after treatment
Head lice until no nits
Working together, we can help minimize the spread of illness and keep our families AND each other healthy this winter!

Mrs. Kristin Reingruber, Principal

One Book, One School Comes to a Close
This week, we will be celebrating the end of our One Book, One School journey with a whole school assembly! We are excited to welcome Big Run Wolf Ranch to Glen Oaks School on Thursday, March 5th to help us learn more about some of the animals we met in “Bad Guys”.
Big Run Wolf Ranch, located in Lockport, is a federally licensed non-profit educational facility specializing in North American wildlife. Many of their animals have been rescued wherein the only other alternative was euthanasia.
During this week's assembly, Big Run Wolf Ranch will be educating us about some of their “Bad Guys” - a wolf, a lynx, and a skunk - who will all be here LIVE as a part of the presentation! How exciting!
