ELA News

We will be completing our fourth anthology by the end of the month. Then we will begin our last anthology of the year. The children have been working very hard on their reading this year. We continue to practice reading fluently and understanding what we read. Don’t forget to practice the high frequency words and robust vocabulary each night with your child!

Math Facts

We are testing Unit 7 the first week of April. Then, we will work on Unit 8. We will begin working on addition and subtraction facts through 10+10. Your child will continue to be timed. Please continue using the fact triangles at night to help improve their “fact power.” Knowing their addition and subtraction facts will be graded on their 3rd and 4th marking period report cards.

Science and Social Studies

Due to all our Mystery Readers, we did not get a chance to do plants. We will begin our unit on plants. We will also learn about Earth Day and what we can do to help the planet!

Please remember to send your child to school with appropriate outdoor clothing. As the weather gets nicer, students will be going outside for recess. Once the air conditioner turns on, the room will get chilly so it might be a good idea to keep a sweatshirt or sweater in their school bags.

You may also want to have your child bring in a water bottle for their desk. As a reminder, please don’t freeze the water bottles – this creates condensation on the desks and ruins papers.

Have an Awesome April!
