How can you raise an innovator?
Innovation is about mindset. An Innovator's Mindset is one that is open to change, embraces creativity, and pursues forward-thinking. As parents, we can foster this mindset by tapping into our child's natural curiosity which will help them further explore and shape the way they learn and create. One way to do this is to encourage them to be "problem-finders". "Finding" problems is an essential part of learning that our children often miss out on when we pose the problems to them first.
Have you recently heard your child say they are bored? Want to challenge them to think with an Innovator's Mindset? Ask your child to identify a problem in your home or neighborhood. Brainstorm ideas to solve that problem. Make a plan and take action. Share your solutions with stakeholders that might be impacted by the problem.
Tweet out your "problem-finding" and problem-solving so that we can see their innovation in the works! Be sure to tag the Knox County GT Department @KCSGifted

As gifted practitioners, we will meet each student where they are as we seek to create a SHIFT in student efficacy in order for every student to feel confident in participating in complex tasks, advocating for themselves, and utilizing a growth mindset.
