Fifth graders in Ms. Thomas’ science class at South Elementary used toothpicks and clay to make the tallest Christmas tree possible using the engineering design process. They first designed their trees on paper and then built, tested and measured their trees.
DEAR Day
Dec. 18 was DEAR Day in Mrs. Tacke’s class at East Elementary. DEAR stands for Drop Everything And Read. Fifth graders got comfy and read books in their pajamas.

Learning about Author's craft
Dr. Carson visited second grade students at North Elementary for a lesson on author's craft, strategies authors use to help readers understand the story.
Students then practiced their own craft with a partner using strategies such as repetitive words, capitalization, ellipses, bold, rhyme and exclamation points!
