Staff & Curriculum Development
Support and Solutions - Issue 25
About the Newsletter
The Madison-Oneida BOCES Staff and Curriculum Development Newsletter is a platform that we use to provide you with curated resources, things to know, tools to use, and ideas to explore.
If we share them, it's because we have looked at them and we think they might be worthy of your limited time! Click on the things that you think will help you and skip the things that won't.
And remember, we are here if you need us!
What's Important - You!

CONTENT & PEDAGOGY
Staying Informed
Two other quick notes:
- The NYSED Office of Curriculum and Instruction has been renamed. It is now the Office of Standards and Instruction -- which makes sense, as NYSED does not issue curricula.
- NYSED's Office of Standards and Instruction issues a brief quarterly newsletter that is always worth a look!
Science and Social Studies
Late last month we sent out two "blitzes" that were chock full of information, one for Science and one for Social Studies. If you have any involvement in teaching either of these subjects, at any grade level, please be certain to check them out!
Instructional Minutes
Check out these quick videos for easy to implement ideas and strategies. Professional Development in under 4 minutes... perfect for your crazy schedules! Enjoy!

THE READING CORNER
The Reading Buddies Is Back!
The Reading Buddies is back with season two!
Here is why you should watch it yourself, use it in your classroom, and share it with parents:
The Reading Buddies teaches both the students and the teachers the “how to” with the science of reading. If you are wondering
- What does the science of reading look like in action?
- Is it boring or engaging?
- How does it look different from other instruction?
