Clara Barton was born on December 25, 1821 and passed away on April 12, 1912. Clara is one of the most honored women in history. Not only was Clara Barton the founder of the American Red Cross and served as its first president, but she was also one of the Angels of the Battlefield. Clara tended to many Union soldiers in Washington. She did "surgery" on a guy who had a bullet shot through his head! There were many angels of the battlefield but because of her fantastic work she was name "The Angel of the Battlefield."
