GREAT KINDNESS CHALLENGE JAN 28 - FEB 1
HEALTHY FUTURES CHALLENGE
Let’s Get Moving! The Healthy Futures Challenge is a program that helps your child build strong bones and muscles by playing for 60 minutes every day. Your child records their physical activity on the Healthy Futures Log and turns it into their teacher at the end of the month and earns prizes. The Challenge takes place in the months of January, February and March.

LIBRARY NOOK
We have concluded our Lego Library Check-Out creation. Lots of books were checked out and returned, but only a few AR tests were taken. Remember to take AR tests on the books you read kids!
Upper grades have learned about citations to give credit due when writing research papers. We will practice more with that next month. All grades are learning more about Coding and have met Dash our Wonderbot, Kolby our primary coding mouse, and BB8 made a visit last week and hopes to visit again soon. Keep reading!
Our next book fair will be February 22nd-March 8th.
VALENTINE'S DAY CANDY GRAMS
Send a sweet message to a special friend, family member, or your favorite teacher. It’s a great way to show you care!
Each Candy Gram costs $2.00.
All proceeds go toward the 5th Grade field trip to Homer in May.
Candy Gram sales will begin Monday, February 4th and will be sold until Wednesday, February 13th. Candy will be delivered at the end of the day on Thursday, February 14th.
Thank you!
5TH GRADE SPONSORSHIP
Calling all caring hearts!
The 5th grade at Big Lake Elementary participates in a wonderful field trip each spring where we go to Homer for 3 days and 2 nights. Students get to learn about ecosystems, tidal animals, digital photography, among many other things. They get to ride in a boat in Kachemak Bay, sleep in yurts, hike, swim, and learn. The cost of the trip is $240, and some of the students are struggling to come up with the funds. We are looking for community members that might be willing to sponsor some or all of a student’s trip. If you are interested, please call Shari at Big Lake Elementary (892-9700) and tell her you have a caring heart! Thanks in advance!
