Voyager Family News

Summer 2020

Strand Spotlights and Info:

Dear Voyager Families,

We hope you are enjoying your summer and staying safe and healthy!

  • Our offices close for the month of July and will reopen to the public on August 17. Please come pick up materials your child left at school through today (June 30) and drop off any borrowed supplies or library books. We cannot guarantee availability of unretrieved items in August.
  • Our yearbook shipping date has still not been confirmed, but we will inform families as soon as they arrive! And we will ship to families who have moved out of the area.
  • Our district is still providing meals for pickup on Mondays through the summer from 11 to 1 PM.
  • Please read our District's latest newsletter dated June 25 here.
  • Please fill out this survey regarding your family's plan for return to school, based on your current intentions.
  • Please register ASAP for School Year 2020-21 unless you are SURE your child will not be returning. We want to count you in, and plan for an amazing year of learning! Registration information is here.

Online registration is required for all returning and new CUSD students. Parents of returning and new students need to complete online registration by June 15th. The attached flyer provides registration instructions and links to view and download required registration documents. New this Year - Parents are now able to upload required documents while registering online. Parents of returning students are strongly encouraged to upload documents and by doing so will no longer be required to attend a registration completion day in August. Parents of new students are also encouraged to upload required documents but will still be required to attend a registration complete day in August by appointment only.

Ms. Moore will continue to stay in touch with families throughout the summer via our website, intermittent family newsletters, and Facebook. We look forward to updating you on our plans for next school year; your district and site leaders are collaborating all summer to support safe reopening of schools in a structure as yet to be determined!

Silver Strand Luau: We are so very sad to report that our SSES PTO and Principal Moore have made the difficult decision to cancel our Silver Strand Luau scheduled for April 24. We are so grateful for our PTO volunteers, parents, and staff who were preparing for this amazing event, along with a slate of amazing vendors and services. We fully intend to reschedule and hold our 25th Luau, but are not in the position to designate a new date at this time. Thank you for your donations and volunteerism--we look forward to mobilizing our forces in support of family togetherness and our wonderful school community SOON! We will have SO MUCH to CELEBRATE!

Community Agreements and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support

We are in year 2 of a district-wide review and revamping of our supports and interventions for students, including academic and behavioral/social-emotional. The aim is for our community to have clear and consistent expectations and interventions with a restorative and supportive focus. Our Silver Strand MTSS committee has drafted a set of Community Agreements for students, staff, and families (see attachment below). We are also working on updated referral/intervention forms and a new look and focus for our "blue slip" incentive forms. We look forward to keeping you posted on our progress and inviting your feedback!
