St. Columba's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 4, WEEK 9 | 12 DECEMBER 2019
Graduating Class of 2019
From the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers
Our school year has rapidly come to an end. It has been a very busy term and we are now down to the last day.
We farewell Mrs Sorbi, Mrs Underwood, Ms Shaylor and Mrs Davis who are all leaving St Columba’s at the end of this year. I wish them all the best with their future endeavours and thank them for their contributions to the school community.
A special mention to Mrs Komnick who is leaving to take on the role of Principal at Our Lady of Mercy. All the best and many thanks for the hard work and all that you have contributed to St Columba’s in your time here as a teacher and Assistant Principal.
I would like to thank the school community for the support shown last Friday night for the P&F Sundowner and the student Carol’s Night. There was a huge turn out and the students sang beautifully thanks to the efforts of Mrs McDonald. It was a wonderful community night and the P&F and staff are to be congratulated on their efforts in preparing for the night.
Congratulations to our Year 6 students who participated in their Graduation Ceremony on Tuesday night. I would like to thank Mr Popadynec and Mrs Komnick for all their work in having the students ready for the night. To the parents and carers from Year 5 and 6 who were involved in organising the setup of the undercover area and the food preparation and the organisation of the night are to be congratulated on their wonderful efforts. It made the night a terrific celebration.
Many thanks go to Monsignor O’Loughlin, Mrs Komnick and Mr Popadynec for organising our end of year Thanksgiving Mass. It was a very moving occasion with the announcement of the student leaders for 2020 and the hand over from the 2019 student leaders to the 2020 student leaders. A big thank you to all the parents and carers who made time to attend the Mass.
All the best to our Year 6 students as they move to high school and I am sure that they will settle smoothly into high school life and will be great ambassadors for our school. To those families who are leaving St Columba’s we thank you for your help and support throughout your time here and I wish you God’s blessings with your future plans.
The St Columba’s staff is also to be acknowledged for their hard work and commitment to our students throughout 2019. Congratulations to all the students for their efforts and achievements over the year. Some of these endeavours are reflected in the students’ reports sent home this week.
The school Board and P&F are to be commended and thanked for the work they have put into supporting the school community throughout the year both financially and in community. To the many volunteers who have helped with school activities throughout the year, your help is very much appreciated. I would also like to acknowledge the work of the office staff as this often goes unnoticed and the school would not run so smoothly without their help.
Class lists have still not been finalised and this will happen towards the end of next week. Class lists will be emailed out to families at the end of next week.
Please note, Term Four concludes for students tomorrow. School resumes for students, Term 1, 2020 on Monday 3 February.
I would also like to take this opportunity to wish all of our school community a Happy and Holy Christmas.
