Information and How to Apply
What is Excel Academy?
Excel Academy (formerly Robbins Academy), founded in 1999 by Dr. Jerry Christian and Diane Tilly, was started as the AHISD alternative high school program of choice. Dr. Jerry Christian, a former AHISD Superintendent, and the late Diane Tilly, a former AHHS English teacher, created a place to support students in need. Ms. Tilly led the effort targeting students who were motivated to gain credits towards graduation but had unique needs prohibiting academic success on a traditional high school campus.
History of Excel Academy
In 2019, Robbins Academy was renamed Excel Academy at Robbins. The Excel program is an extension of AHHS with the school’s operation, structure, and curriculum under the supervision of the AHISD central office and the AHHS administrative team. Students enrolled in the Excel Academy program receive an Alamo Heights High School diploma based on the state-required Foundation Program or Foundation Program with Endorsements.
